The National Housing Federation (NHF) has published its AI Strategy, setting out how it intends to help housing associations use AI safely, ethically, and effectively.
The strategy focuses on three priorities:
- Advocacy and awareness – promoting responsible use of AI across the sector.
- Collaboration – creating space for members to share good practice and learn together.
- Capability building – developing tools, training, and guidance to build confidence and digital fluency.
In response, the DASH team has produced a short paper —
“Strengthening the NHF AI Strategy: From Ambition to Assurance” —
which reviews the Federation’s current approach and offers practical ways to strengthen governance, collaboration, and tenant trust.
The paper draws on evidence from the NHF AI Survey (July 2025), HAILIE User Insights, DASH Readiness Assessment, and Service Insights alongside cross-sector lessons from the Law Society, LGA, and NHS AI Lab.
It proposes five key actions, including an AI Ethics Charter, Responsible AI Toolkit, and Joint Taskforce with NHF, DASH, HAILIE, and the AI Housing Group.
